Old school pizza noodle casserole

Renatos-Pizza's facebook page posted this picture of a classic school lunch pizza and asked about a Pizza Casserole that was served in the good ol' days.

Shannan was kind enough to dig out her copy of the recipe and share it with us.

Pizza Noodle Casserole

Ingredients:

1 pound thin noodles (cooked)
1 pound ground pork
1 1/2 pounds of shredded american cheese (not velveeta) you may need to buy this in block form and shred yourself *
1 1/2 pounds of shredded mozzarella cheese *
1 large can of tomato puree
1 large can tomato sauce
1 TBSP onion powder
2 cloves of crushed garlic
2 TBSP of olive oil

Sauce: put olive oil and garlic in pan, heat add the sauce, puree, and the onion powder. break up the ground pork and put into the sauce raw. cook on low until pork is cooked ( about an hour).

Cook the noodles.

In a 9x13 pan layer the noodles, sauce and then cheeses, be sure to save some cheese for the top. Stir every layer with a fork after the cheese is added. Top with cheese and bake at 350 for about an hour.

* Shannon indicated she cut the cheese back to only 1 lb

Thank you, Shannon!
